The West Virginia Mountaineers football team represents West Virginia University. WVU has participated in almost 120 seasons of college football since 1891; it is considered the winningest program in the nation that does not have a national championship to its credit. Great coaching has been a part of Mountaineer history with the likes of Bobby Bowden, Don Nehlen, and Rich Rodriguez. Players have also been at the top of national honors, with Jeff Hostetler, Pat White, Major Harris, Tavon Austin, Will Grier, Brian Jozwiak, and Don Nehlen, among others.
